11. Mystic Arts and combat effects

Mystic Arts are weapon-independent active or utility powers. Martial Arts belong to weapons. Inner Ways are passives. This chapter separates all three, catalogs the verified intro-through-mid-game Mystic Arts, and translates every documented combat condition into plain English.

Version line:This catalog is for the global 2.2 build. Chinese-version lists and older English guides do not always match it. Names or routes that conflict are marked instead of silently combined.

The three systems, without the jargon

Martial Arts

Your weapon’s actual moveset, active skills, combos, heals, and counters. They only work with the linked weapon equipped. Level them under Develop → Abilities.

Inner Ways

Passive build rules. Equip four. Universal Ways work broadly; weapon-linked Ways are dead slots when the matching weapon is not in your active pair.

Mystic Arts

Weapon-independent powers, utilities, and movement techniques. Equip them under Develop → Mystic Arts and cast slotted combat Arts with RT plus a face button.

Growth

Extra Mystic slots come from Talent nodes. Upgradeable Arts use Ebon Iron plus Art-specific breakthrough materials across four tiers, each with ranks. Read breakthrough effects, because upgrades can change function rather than merely add damage.

Starter and Talent-track Mystic Arts

Star Shift

Job: assist-deflection safety net.

Unlock: default or very early story unlock, depending on how the source labels the tutorial.

Consumes Insight and triggers a Deflect just before a hit. It is not upgradeable.

Divine Counter

Job: block first, then punish.

Unlock: Basic Talent track after at least 14 points are allocated.

Your counter after blocking cuts the target’s Endurance recovery by 50% for 8 seconds. Particularly useful in duels.

Still Waters

Job: extreme slow field for solo play.

Unlock: early bow tutorial.

Reduces enemy movement speed by 75% while you hold the effect and drains your Endurance in 0.1-second ticks. It cannot be triggered in Co-op or Online.

Wind Sense

Job: investigation vision.

Unlock: Basic Talent track.

Passive utility that highlights useful people, objects, clues, and interactable details. Hold R3 on the default Xbox layout.

Touch of Death

Job: stealth takedown.

Unlock: “Echoes of Old Battles” at Battlecrest Slope.

From behind, charge toward a weak target and strike a vital point. Shadow Assault extends its value. Strong enemies are not guaranteed instant defeats.

Serene Breeze

Job: escape control and suppress recovery.

Unlock: Talent track.

Can be used while hit-staggered or controlled, including during silence according to current guides. Its hits cut enemy Endurance recovery by 50% for 8 seconds.

Qinghe Mystic Arts

These are available in the opening region through quests, exploration, Skill Theft, or the Talent path. Quest names are included only because they are needed to find the mechanic.

Tai Chi

Job: throw, stun, shield pressure, and puzzle tool.

Unlock: “A Bear of a Time,” then use Skill Theft on the bear.

Pull, spin, aim with the camera, and hurl the target. Wall impacts add damage. It is strong against shield users and can break hidden walls. It does not work on bosses. A roughly 10-second cooldown is reported by one current build guide.

Cloud Steps

Job: gap closer, aerial stomp, and traversal.

Unlock: Tiger Fort dungeon under General’s Shrine.

Stomps an enemy’s shoulders and deals bonus pressure to cavalry or Unstable Poise units. Outside combat it gives long leaps. It also enables Guardian Palm’s Lamp Light version from 1 to 5 meters high.

Lion’s Roar

Job: large-area damage with brief protection.

Unlock: strike all four giant copper bells in Qinghe.

The bell slam becomes a 14-hit area roar. While using it you gain 15% Damage Reduction and Fortitude.

Leaping Toad

Job: forward leap into an area slam.

Unlock: speak to Liang Xiaolong, then Skill-Theft the jumping toads near General’s Shrine.

Simple mobility plus area damage. Its main value early is closing space while hitting a cluster.

Meridian Touch

Job: immobilize and vital-point utility.

Unlock: Yan Qiren at Stonewash Strand in Qinghe.

Stops ordinary targets and breaks Vital Points. It does not immobilize mighty enemies. Outside combat it can support diversions and specific healing interactions.

Celestial Seize

Job: ranged theft, object pull, and enemy disarm.

Unlock: “Foul Play” at Heaven’s Pier.

Pulls distant bags or chests. In combat it can disarm an enemy and counter with the stolen weapon, with damage affected by that weapon’s weight. It is also required for some later Skill Theft unlocks.

Heavenly Snatch Disputed

Job: long-range pickpocketing.

Reported unlock: Qiu Yuehai at the Heaven’s Pier drinking contest.

Some English guides list this separately. Game8 lists only Celestial Seize, and other sources treat both names as translations of one Art. Verify the name in your 2.2 Mystic Arts menu before hunting a second unlock.

Honking Havoc

Job: area disruption and silence.

Unlock: “Who’s the Boss,” then observe the goose on the road between Heaven’s Pier and Blissful Retreat.

Flutters through a wide area and applies Breath-hold for 6 seconds, shutting off actions classified under that silence effect.

Glow of Fireflies

Job: portable light.

Unlock: collect fireflies at night.

The light lasts 30 seconds. The required count is version-sensitive: one current guide says 5, another says 20. Follow the live counter.

Veil of Stillness

Job: stealth and lower detection.

Unlock: “Skill Theft: Unearned Lesson.”

Reduces your presence for a short time. Use it to set up stealth routes rather than as a raw damage button.

Yaksha Rush

Job: lunge, defense break, and launcher.

Unlock: final Qinghe Jianghu Legacy at 6,000 regional Exploration points.

Gather Qi, rush forward, break defense, and launch the target. One older guide uses a different quest-chain name for the same apparent route.

Free Morph

Job: aerial juggle.

Unlock: complete the quest chain that ends in Tian Ying’s campaign and challenge fights, then Deflect the spinning kicks.

The first hit launches, the follow-ups juggle in midair, and the finisher slams for area damage.

Drunken Poet

Job: five-hit flurry and Burn detonation.

Unlock: buy and drink the Honest Merchant’s wine as the merchant moves from Blissful Retreat to Harvestfall.

Each of up to five strikes costs 6 Vitality. It applies Drunken Haze to enemies and Intoxicated to you for 30 seconds. Its current breakthrough branch converts Burn into burst damage. At Tier 3 it gains a stronger explosion against targets carrying your Dark Scorch.

Blinding Mist

Job: poison mist and shutdown.

Unlock: “Blind to the World” at Moonveil Mountain.

Deals damage and blinds ordinary targets for 5 seconds, leaving them unable to fight. It does not shut down tougher foes.

Kaifeng and Sundara Land Mystic Arts

Ghost Bind

Job: mass immobilize.

Unlock: Forsaken Quarters quest in Kaifeng.

Flash-teleports through and immobilizes up to six targets while damaging Vital Points. It is ineffective against players and powerful foes.

Golden Body

Job: shielded tank window.

Unlock: during the Chen-to-Wu daytime period at Grand Imperial Temple, use Celestial Seize unseen on monk Shi Yi to steal the Golden Body Scroll.

Base form costs 50 Vitality, has a verified 20-second cooldown, and grants an 8-second shield plus 10 Qi Recovery. While the shield holds, you gain Fortitude and 15% Damage Reduction.

Breakthroughs: Tier 2 raises reduction to 25%, extends the window to 10 seconds, and converts 50% of leftover shield to HP. Tier 3 can spend 40 Essence when above 100 near allies, adds 10 seconds to cooldown, and turns Perception into an area ally shield. Tier 4 cuts Vitality cost to 10. Arena shortens the Tenacity window.

Talon Strike

Job: three-hit defense breaker.

Unlock: complete the bird-nest theft interaction on the cliffs south of Palace of Annals.

Dive as the bird attacks, break defense, then land three heavy hits. Each strike can break defense and adds Qi damage. Mystic Arts tagged Defense Break share one cooldown.

Soaring Spin

Job: lunging damage and anti-heal.

Unlock: inside the Kaifeng martial temple arsenal, Cloud Steps onto the God of Killing statue and use Celestial Seize on the small chest.

Strikes along its path and reduces Healing Received by 60% for 5 seconds.

Guardian Palm

Job: ground-smash area damage.

Unlock: “Where a Thousand Buddhas Wept” in Sundara Land.

Used from 1 to 5 meters above the ground, it changes to Lamp Light, a stronger palm strike with knockback.

Flaming Meteor

Job: aerial spear impact and area burst.

Unlock: use the Bodhi Sea drums in Sundara Land, fight Ye Wanshan, fill the eye meter with Deflects, and clear the related challenge.

Charges, leaps, throws a blazing spear for an explosion, then crashes down. Buddha’s Tear Root is its breakthrough material.

Dragon’s Breath

Job: fire arc, Ignition damage, and protected channel.

Unlock: during “Beast Reverie,” steal “Travelogue: Toehari” from Liang Yuan with Celestial Seize and give it to Luo Jiu.

Applies Ignition every 0.5 seconds for 8 seconds while giving 15% Damage Reduction and Tenacity. It also applies Intoxicated to you for 30 seconds. Its current Dark Scorch branch is tracked per player and feeds Drunken Poet’s Tier 3 detonation.

Wolflike Frenzy

Job: knockdown and ground combo.

Unlock: chest near the Ghost Market entrance cave; another source places it after the Dao Lord encounter in the same broader route.

Knocks down, delivers rapid staff strikes, and ends with an upward swing. It is especially useful against cavalry.

Ghostly Steps

Job: sustained evasive mode.

Unlock: large reward chest in the hidden cave at Ghost Market.

Grants Mirage for 20 seconds: ground dodges cost 40% less Endurance and keep you untargetable slightly longer.

Flute of the Tides Route unverified

Job: autonomous area pressure.

Unlock: not verified in the sources reviewed.

Summons a floating flute for 12.5 seconds. It can release five sequences, each striking up to five targets five times. The effect text is documented; the acquisition route is not.

Later than this guide:Dragon Head requires 35 other Mystic Arts, so it is endgame-adjacent rather than a practical mid-game unlock. It is a knockback burst with 15% Damage Reduction and Super Armor during the cast, and it cannot Crit, Precision Crit, or Graze. Idle Wind, Moonleap Morph, Abyss Dive, Contortion, and Goosy Slide are later-region Arts and intentionally stop at this scope line.

Movement and Lightness Arts available by mid game

Threefold SkywalkDefault triple jump.

Skywalk DashDefault air dash.

Mighty DropDefault fast landing attack or cancel.

Safe Mighty DropFirst clear of Mysterious Outpost in western Moonveil Mountain. After landing, grants immunity to disease and fall damage.

Fan GliderQinghe Exploration Level 5 at 6,000 points. Controlled gliding.

Wind RiderQinghe Exploration Level 6 at 9,000 points plus the relevant region keepsake. Verified Tier 4 listing costs 15 Vitality with a 1-second cooldown.

Wallstride pairSwiftstride and Shadowdash come from the Music of Lingzhang V and Music of Laiyi II nodes through the Melodies of Peace NPC, at roughly 21 Oddities submitted. These are wall-running techniques.

Combat effects and conditions, translated

Burn, Ignition, and Dark Scorch

Burn: Fire Divinecraft adds HP damage. Ignition: Dragon’s Breath ticks every 0.5 seconds for 8 seconds. Dark Scorch: the current Dragon’s Breath branch tracks your own application so Drunken Poet Tier 3 can detonate it. Do not assume another player’s Dark Scorch belongs to your combo.

Poison

Poison Divinecraft adds HP and Qi damage and can break an Iron Body Qi lock. Bitter Seasons has a chance to apply a 5-second Poison and lowers Physical Defense by 0.6% per stack for 10 seconds, up to five stacks.

Bleed and Weeping Blood

Fivefold Bleed builds a 5-second Bleed. At five stacks it converts into immediate Piercing damage. Strategic Sword’s Sword Horizon follow-up adds High Bleed damage against a target already at maximum Bleed.

Knockdown, launch, and airborne

Knockdown puts the target on the ground. Launch sends it airborne. Free Morph and Yaksha Rush launch; Wolflike Frenzy knocks down. Star Reacher gives 10% more damage for 8 seconds after you launch, while Unfading Flower gains bonus value against airborne targets.

Immobilize, freeze, and stun

Immobilize prevents movement but is resisted by mighty targets and, for Ghost Bind, players. Freeze appears on the Panacea Fan counter as a short stop. Stun or disorient interrupts action, including Tai Chi wall impacts and Lion’s Roar.

Blind, slow, Breath-hold, and pull

Blinding Mist’s Blind shuts ordinary enemies down for 5 seconds. Still Waters slows movement by 75%. Honking Havoc applies the 6-second Breath-hold silence. Tai Chi and Celestial Seize pull or reposition targets and objects.

Qi and Exhausted

Qi is poise, not health. Empty it to inflict Exhausted. An Exhausted target is stunned and cannot block, opening Y + B Execute. You can also become Exhausted and lose the ability to block. Max Qi scaling is documented as gear-driven.

Golden Hyper Armor

A boss with a golden Qi aura cannot be interrupted or staggered by normal attacks. Deplete the special gold Qi bar to strip it. If you disengage, that bar can recover. This is not the same thing as a yellow or gold dodge-only attack flash.

Iron Body

An armored unit’s Qi is locked. Poison Divinecraft is the documented coating that breaks through the lock. Treat Iron Body as a defense state, not merely extra HP.

Fortitude, Tenacity, and Super Armor

These labels all describe resistance to stagger while the effect lasts, but the exact rules can vary by skill and mode. Lion’s Roar and Golden Body grant Fortitude, Dragon’s Breath grants Tenacity, and Dragon Head grants Super Armor.

Shield and Damage Reduction

A shield is a separate protective value. Golden Body’s shield interacts with Healing Bonus, Healing Reduction, and Critical Healing. Damage Reduction lowers incoming damage directly. Verified Art values here are 15% for Lion’s Roar, Dragon’s Breath, Dragon Head, and base Golden Body; Golden Body Tier 2 reaches 25%.

Defense Break

Talon Strike is the clearest verified Defense-Break Mystic Art. Breaking defense also deals Qi damage. Arts tagged Defense Break share a cooldown, so slotting several does not create independent back-to-back breaks.

Dulled and Toughness damage

Water Divinecraft applies Dulled, reducing enemy damage. It also adds 25% Toughness damage and has a chance to pierce shields. Toughness damage is pressure against protection, not direct Health damage.

Unstable Poise

A vulnerability associated with cavalry and mounted units. Cloud Steps receives bonus value against it. Wolflike Frenzy is also documented as effective against cavalry.

Healing Reduction

Soaring Spin cuts Healing Received by 60% for 5 seconds. Golden Body’s shield is also affected by Healing Reduction. Use anti-heal before the target’s recovery window rather than after it heals.

Disintegration

Breaking Point for Infernal Twinblades can trigger it when you Crit an Exhausted enemy. Each stack adds 10% Physical Penetration and 5% Crit Damage, up to three stacks.

Mirage and Untargetable

Ghostly Steps grants Mirage for 20 seconds. Ground dodges cost 40% less Endurance and their Untargetable period lasts slightly longer. Untargetable is a timing window, not permanent invulnerability.

Intoxicated and Drunken Haze

Drunken Poet and Dragon’s Breath can apply Intoxicated to you for 30 seconds. Drunken Poet applies Drunken Haze to enemies. Exact penalties outside the verified Art interactions were not consistent enough to state.

Yi River and damage-taken marks

Morale Chant builds Yi River, granting 1% damage for 8 seconds per stack, up to five. Blossom Barrage can mark a target to take 10% more damage for 8 seconds.

Eagle Guard

The Eaglerise set can build a protection trigger that cuts the next incoming hit by 90% within 10 seconds at maximum stacks. The reduction is halved against bosses and can trigger once every 30 seconds.

Healing, revive, and combat resources

HealthYour life total. Medicine, Boundary Stones, food outside combat, and healing Martial Arts restore it.

VitalityFuel for Mystic Arts. Hitting enemies, taking hits, and Deflecting restore it. Oddity submissions and Melodies of Peace raise the pool. A greyed-out Art often means you lack Vitality.

EnduranceMovement and dodge economy. Still Waters drains it. Ghostly Steps lowers dodge cost. Serene Breeze and Divine Counter cut an enemy’s recovery, not the size of its bar.

InsightCharges consumed by Star Shift’s assist-deflection.

EssenceGolden Body Tier 3 checks for more than 100 and can spend 40 near allies to enable its group-shield branch.

DewdropsPanacea Fan resource, capped at 100. Heavy attacks and Emerald Dewtouch build it. Light Dust After Morning Rain spends 50 for a 6-second heal-over-time on you and the lowest-HP ally.

ResurrectionPanacea Fan’s Perception skill revives the nearest downed ally. The revive has a 30-second cooldown, and restored HP scales with Dew consumed.

Inner Ways that create or exploit effects

Bleed engine. Builds to five stacks, then turns the stack into immediate Piercing damage.

Morale Chant

General damage engine. Yi River gives 1% damage for 8 seconds per stack, up to five.

Shadow Assault

Stealth engine. Extends the practical use of Touch of Death rather than supplying a separate combat button.

Fury Harvest

Resource engine. Adds Vitality from recovery actions, helping a Mystic-heavy kit cast more often.

Wind Beneath Wings

Movement engine. Rewards Skywalk Dash interaction and belongs in aerial or mobility-focused setups.

Star Reacher

Launcher engine. After you launch a target, gain 10% damage for 8 seconds.

Unfading Flower

Air-combo engine. Adds damage against enemies that are already airborne.

Extreme build audit

Weapon pair: can both Martial Arts perform a clear job, and do they share a resource or payoff?
Four Inner Ways: does each passive work with one of those weapons or the exact status you apply?
Mystic wheel: carry one control or defense-break tool, one survival or escape tool, one damage or status payoff, and one utility slot before duplicating jobs.
Status chain: know what creates the condition, what exploits it, and whether bosses resist the control portion.
Breakthrough read: check the next functional change before spending Ebon Iron or a rare Art-specific material.
Mode check: Still Waters fails in Co-op and Online; Ghost Bind, Blinding Mist, and Tai Chi lose control value against protected targets.
